Operation Market Garden

2 days to go,tik tok tik tok and the clock ticking each seconds made me felt more anxious to know what will happen to my result on this thursday. To cheer up myself,I always wrote and post the topic which was considered boring for everyone in this world,history..yeah,you can see it,I just have only 4 followers rather than my friends that have a hundred or even thousands of followers..but,its okay,I'm satisfied with my blog, actually, having a blog make me so proud..I can improve my english, and I can share my simple fact to everyone eventhough not so many people visiting my blog..ha3x,okay..Today,I will post the final step for the Allies to throw the Germans from the Low Land Countries and push them back to their homeland..
1.Montgomery's 2nd Army need to cross Rhine at Arnhem but it was too risky..
2.By crossing Lower Rhine, the Allies could manage to outflank the German's Siegfried and encircled Ruhr Valley..
3.So,its required the paratroopers,a large scale of airborne forces to secure the key bridges stretches along Lower Rhine
a)82nd US Airborne:Grave,Groessbek,Nijmegen.
b)101st US Airborne Division:Son,Best
c)British 1st Airborne Division and Polish Airborne Division:Arnhem
4.The plan of action consisted of two operations:
a)Market: airborne forces of Lieutenant General Lewis H. Brereton's First Allied Airborne Army to seize bridges and other terrain, under tactical command of I Airborne Corps under Lieutenant-General Frederick Browning, and
b)Garden: ground forces of the Second Army to move north spearheaded by XXX Corps under Lieutenant-General Brian Horrocks.
5.The Allies suffered heavy casualties but the way for the Montgomery's 2nd Army was cleared..
6.US 1st Army captured Aachen on 20th October 1944,Patton's 3rd Army secured Metz but 1st Canadian Army did not clear the Schelde estuary west of Antwerp.
7.It was believed that the failure of Market Garden comes in weather, intelligence failure and priority of operation..
8.The result of those three major operations, the Allies amazingly advanced of 350 miles in a few weeks was thus brought to halt when they reached Ardeness..
9.The Allies had a superiority of 20 to 1 in tanks and 25 to 1 in warplanes against the Germans..
10.The Germans near to collapse in August 1944,they were not prepared mentally and materially..
Maybe, tomorrow I will post about the Eastern Front on June-December 1944..just wait and see la..

I'm truly shock when my friend tell me that the SPM result will come earlier,he said it was today..but,its just a prank..damn it you Dolah, the actual day to receive my result will be on next thursday,on 11th March 2010.Let me proceed to our next lesson, the allies invasion of Western Europe, the continent must be liberate by those Krauts and it was begun at Normandy,Northern France..In the period between June and November saw many of the allies victory against the Germans from Western to Eastern Europe..
a)Operation Overlord
1.The OKH already expected an allied invasion of Northern France..
2.Gen Gerd Von Runstedt expected that the invasion will be at Calais and Dieppe, but Field Marshal Erwin Rommel and Adolf Hitler expected that the invasion will be at Coasts Of Normandy..
3.The Germans have 59 divisions spread over Western Europe and Lowland Countries, but approximately half of this number were static and the remainder may only included only 10 armoured or motorized division..
4.The Western Allies launched Operation Overlord, the invasion of Northern France took place on 6th June 1944-the war most celebrated D-Day..
5.Some 156000 men landed on the beaches of Normandy between Orne Estuary and the Contentin Peninsular.83000 British and Canadian will take the Eastern beaches and other 73000 Americans will take the Western beaches..
6.Once they land at all beaches, they will be under Eisenhower's supreme commander and Montgomery's immediate command..

11.On 31st July 1944,the US 3rd Army under the command of Gen,George S.Patton broke the Germans line at Avranches, the gateway from Normandy to Brittany..
12.7th August 1944,the desperate 4 German Panzer Division try to seal the breach but failed..
13.Some of the US Forces swung southwestward and hope to seize Breton ports while the others went towards the crossing of Loire..
14.In the Falaise Pocket, a large part of the Germans retreating southward from the pressure of Allies left at Caen. The Americans took a flanking maneuver eastward while the Polish and Canadian take northward..
15.More allies troops landed at Normandy,On 1st August 1944,the 21st(British-Canadian) and the 12th(Americans) under Bradley landed and reinforced the remained allies troops at France..

19.The German forces would form a strong defensive barrier line if they pull back to the Seine River but Hitler stupidly ordered that there should not be withdrawal. The result was devastated for the Germans, the bulk of Germans armoured and infantry division largely trapped by the arc of Allies advance and that it what we knew about the Falaise Pocket..
20.Some 200000 Germans troops were taken prisoners in Frace and 1200 Germans tanks have been destroyed..

Sicily and the fall of Mussolini

I'm was thinking to started the WW2 topic, because I had a time with it..too much time at home,no work to do and the SPM result will be know next week, hopefully I get a good result..Today,I will introduced the Western allies movement against the Germans, yeah, yesterday we have learn the Soviet movement against those Krauts..The Germans need to be stop, the Soviet successfully do their work by quickly push the Germans back to their initial point before the invasion. However, the Western allies also plan something to drive the Germans from Sicily and Italy.Hitler will faces his greater nightmare,he will lost his ally Bennito Mussolini and also his own troops by the Americans,Polish and British which are the invading forces.
1.The Axis had only 10 Italian division and 2 Germans Panzer Division units stationed at Sicily on 1943..

The German Offensive

We knew that the German army won't yield easily after suffered a heavy casualties during the Soviets great counter-offensive..
1.On July 5th 1943,Hitler threw some 20 infantry divisions and 17 armoured divisions making a total of 3000 tanks to recapture Kursk.
2.But,the Soviets commander,Marshal Zhukov already knew the plan, and he had plan to attack the Germans before their offensive..the battle was started with a heavy bombardment by Soviet, then followed by the Germans, the German tank column got entangled in the deep of minefields..Heavy cooperation and having an air superiority, the Soviet Airforce quickly coordinated the attack, the Germans had only advanced 10-30 miles and no large Soviet prisoners was taken. Both forces suffered heavy casualties but the Soviet suffered too much..
3.On 12th July 1943,the Soviet under Zhukov unleashed their counter-attack and took Orel on 5th August 1943..
4.By this time, the Germans had lost 2900 tanks and 70000 men in the Battle Of Kursk probably the largest tank battle in history..
5.Finally,the German offensive was halted, the Soviets advance was accelerated and the German had been drove back to the Dnepr.
Stalingrad and the German retreat

I think I will start to post more frequently, because my facebook and myspace are became too boring,no friend request,no comment,no messages and everything..OK,yesterday I have posted the Operation Barbarossa and today I will introduced the fact of the German retreat during Barbarossa. In the early part of the Nazi invasion of Soviet Union, the Germans seem to accomplish the objective, but on the summer 1942 to February 1943,the Soviet Red Army unleashed their great counter-offensive which strokes the Germans..
1.Stalingrad was a large industrial city,it stretched for 30 miles along the banks of Volga..
2.The Panzer 4th Army diverted to help Kleist attack on Rostov and it was directed towards Stalingrad a fortnight later..
3.Gen Friedrich Paulus, the commander of 6th Army with 330000 troops advance eastward and countered the 62nd Soviet Rifle Division under the command of Gen Vasily Chuikov which encouraged his men to made a determined stands..
4.The Soviets had to supply their troops by boat and barge across the Volga from the other bank.Meanwhile, the German was reinforced by their reserves from their flank cover mainly from the Romanian and Italian divisions..
5.On 19th-20th November 1942,2 Soviets spearhead under the command of Gen Nikolai Nikolayevich,Gen A.M Vasilevsky and Marshal Geory Zhukov made a huge counter-offensive from north and south of the German salient whose tip at Stalingrad.By 26th November 1942,after penetrated deep into the German flanks, the two prongs attack had linked up about 70 miles west of Stalingrad, the encirclement of the remaining 250000 German 6th and 4th Army was completed..
6.Hitler ordered Paulus to "Stand And Fight",the order however doomed the depressed German army..
7.By Mid-December,Field Marshal Erich Von Manstein form a special army to rescue Paulus's forces inside Stalingrad but it was failed due to the fatal order by Hitler..
8.On 31st January 1943,Paulus surrendered with 91000 frozen and starving man and also 24 general with him..
9.Even west of Rostov,January 1942,2 Soviets army under Gen Nikolai Vatutin and the other one was under Gen Filip Golikov have crossed Don River and thrusting to the Donets between Kamensk and Kharkhov..
10.Golikov took Lozoyava on 11th February 1942 and Kharkov 5 days later..
11.Kursk retaken by 3rd Soviet Army under Gen Ivan Chernyakhovsky on February 8th 1943.The Germans had retreat from all of their territory that they had taken in their great invasion on the early part of the campaign. The Caucasus returned to Soviets hand..

The Nazi Invasion Of Soviet Union,1941

Oh my god, there is about less than of 2 weeks before I get my SPM result..hopefully,I get a nice and good result,so that I can further my studies in history..But,today,I wanted to post the Operation Barbarossa, the codename of the Nazi invasion of Soviet Union, its much longer than other post since I just can't simplify the fact but after a night study it back, finally I managed to make it short. So,let it begin..

2.It was the largest invasion forces in history of mankind. The invading forces which is means the Germans can be increased by more than 30 fresh divisions of Finnish and Romanian..
3.For the Soviet, they have 360 divisions, three times number of both tanks and warplanes as the Germans had,but their warplanes were more obsolete..
4.The OKH predicted that the Soviet regime will collapse within 6 months after the invasion..

c)Southern Forces:Gen Gerd Von Runstedt plus with armoured group from Kleist will advance from Poland into Ukraine against Kiev, coasts of the Black Sea and the Sea Of Azov..
6.Germans army encircled Red Army position and made a large pocket. But,the isolated Red Army fought with a stubborness that the French not shown during the Battle Of France on 1940..
7.The Germans also being hampered by the scorched earth policy adopted by the retreating Soviets..
8.Mid-July,the Wehrmacht had advanced 400 mies and were only 200 miles from Moscow. The OKH proposed Moscow as the main objective, but Hitler wanted the major effect to be directed against Leningrad, through the Ukraine and the Donets Basin into the Caucasus..
9.Winter was approaching,Hitler halted Leeb's northward drive on the Leningrad. He ordered Runstedt and Kleist to press on Dnepr towards Don and the Caucasus,Bock was to resume the advance to Moscow..
10.2nd December 1941,some Germans division penetrated into the suburbs of Moscow.Red Army fought back with more effectively, heavily reinforced by the harsh Russian winter which paralyzed the Germans armoured group and frost bite among the troops..
11.Germans casualties had mounted to levels that were unheard of in the campaign against France and Balkans,by November the Wehrmacht had suffered 730000 casualties..
12.In the south,Kleist's army had already reached Rostov-On-Don(gateway to Caucasus) on 26th November 1941.The Soviet Red Army counter-offensive managed to recaptured Rostov on 28th November 1941..
13.On 6th December 1941,Soviet commander,Marshal Geory Zhukov launched first great counter-offensive which strokes against Bock's right at Elets,Tua,Klin and Kalinin. They were followed by another counter-offensive at Velikie Luki sector and triple convergence towards Smolensk..
14.The German general were filled in ghastly thought of Napoleon's retreat from Moscow..
15.Late in September 1941,Great Britain and United States Of America reinforced Soviet Union with a monthly quantity of supplies included the warplanes, tanks and raw materials.
16.The critical situation on the Eastern front did not deter Hitler from declared war against the Americans on December 1941.
17.March 1942,the Germans still maintaining their hold on the main bastion of front such as the town of Schulusselburg,Novgorod,Ryzhev,Vyazma,Bryansk,Orel,Kursk,Kharkov and Taganrog.
